Recognising London’s Unsung Hero: Veronica Alden

This week, GMC recognised a longtime community champion and unsung hero in Southwark, Veronica Alden.

Veronica has been Southwark Young Pilgrims fundraiser and project coordinator for the past 18 years! Previously, she was Centre Manager for Southwark Heritage Association.

The Southwark Young Pilgrims project gives year 10 and 11 pupils from schools within Southwark an insight into the world of work and introduces young people to the idea of a career in travel and tourism through a structured programme of accredited training and work experience as Ambassadors of the Borough.

Veronica was presented her GMC Community Champion Award and a cheque for £100 by the Vice Chair of Southwark Pigrims Project. It was also attended by David Alden, Chair of Southwark Heritage Association.  Veronica said she will be donating her £100 cheque to the Pilgrims Project.

Congratulations Veronica!
