Prem becomes Patron of Children’s University

Prem Goyal, CEO of Global Markets Consultants (GMC), has been invited to become Patron of Children’s University at Ashdown Primary School in East Sussex.

In September 2016, Ashdown Primary School began its involvement with Children’s University. The initiative allows children aged 7-14 to purchase a Children’s University passport and then start earning credits through participating in accredited learning activities. Children with over 30 credits will receive a special certificate.

Addressing the children of Ashdown Primary school during assembly through a video message, Prem said: “We all want you to achieve your dreams. We want you to excel and realise your full potential.

“Metaphorically speaking, I am willing not only to teach you how to fish, but I am also ready to provide you the fishing equipment to make sure that you reach the stars.”

Prem is currently in the process of finalising a visit to Ashdown Primary School in 2017, so he can meet some of their high-achieving students and hear about the learning activities they have participated in.

On being asked to become a Patron, Prem said: “It is a huge honour to be made a Patron of the Children’s University at Ashdown Primary School.

“Education and forstering a love for life-long learning is an issue that is very close to my heart and will do everything in my power to support this wonderful initiative and foster a love for learning in these children.”

Dear Parents and Children of Ashdown Primary.

I am sorry that I cannot be with you tonight on this prestigious occasion.

I am very pleased and excited to become your Patron for the Children’s University.

Learning is a wonderful gift. Aspiring to learn new skills outside of the school day is important for broadening your mind and for your own personal achievement.  It was how I loved to learn. The school I went to in India was a lot different to the schools you are used to. We had no playground; no musical instruments; and no desks. We all sat on the floor and wrote on wooden boards.

But despite this, I loved learning. In fact, education has been the story of my life. Education has opened doors for me. And everything I have achieved has only been possible because of education.

You are at the beginning of your journey – both in education and in life. I believe you can reach great heights too if you work hard, regularly create new opportunities and believe in yourself. Just like me, I hope you will never settle for less.

I am excited to visit and meet all of you in person soon. I look forward to welcoming you to London where you will discover the City’s financial sector and gain some Children’s University credits in the process. I also look forward to presenting awards to you at the graduation ceremony.

We all want you to achieve your dreams. We want you to excel and realise your full potential. Metaphorically speaking, I am willing not only to teach you how to fish, but I am also ready to provide you the fishing equipment to make sure that you reach the stars. But be absolutely clear – you have to go fishing. Only then will your future belong to you.

Good luck and best wishes.
