Launching Ubuntu project with Tutu Foundation

Prem Goyal, CEO of Global Markets Consultants, was invited as Ambassador for Tutu Foundation UK to the launch of their ‘Ubuntu in Action’ Roundtable project at Hackney Community College on Saturday 18 March.

Over 50 people attended the launch of the project, which has been meticulously planned by the Tutu Foundation for over a year to continue the legacy of former Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

‘Ubuntu in Action’ will see youth and local police officers from 10 London boroughs meet each other for a roundtable discussion in an effort to build mutual trust between the two groups and lower youth crime.

The decision was made to expand the project to 10 London boroughs after it was successfully trialed in Southwark in 2016 and received a total of £100k in funding from the Sir John Cass Foundation and the London Mayor’s Office.

After the launch event, Prem commented: “I’m glad that this initiative has grown. It will certainly help to create a much-needed dialogue between the police and young people to strengthen local communities across London.”

Thanks to Clive Conway, Chairman of Tutu Foundation UK, for his hard work in launching this project.
