Labour win in Brixton

Celebrating a successful campaign

Martin Tiedemann secured a convincing win for Labour in the Brixton Hill council by-election yesterday.

Labour received 1593 votes (over 60% share).  The Lib Dems slid down to third – another result indicative of their collapsing appeal – after the Green candidate came second with 344 votes.

It was a great effort by everyone who came to campaign. Cllr Pete Robbins, the campaign manager, and Brian Cowie, the election agent, deserve particular mentions. Additionally Morgan McSweeney and Ali Craft did great jobs too.

The ensuing celebration was very satisfying and also meant I got to catch up with Chuka Umunna and Steve Reed.
