Fostering youth leadership with TSF in 2014

This year was the 3rd anniversary of the death of Mayor Tayo Situ. Through the Tayo Situ Foundation, we ensure that his legacy continues by nurturing the next generation of talented leaders.

I attended a memorial service for Tayo Situ at Camberwell Cemetery in May. After paying tribute to him, I discussed the activities the foundation were going to undertake with the trustees and patrons during the coming year to foster leadership skills among young people.

Activities this year included the TSF inaugural guest lecture and five career development and leadership seminars held in London. One seminar was hosted by Lambeth Council Chief Executive Derrick Anderson CBE. Overall, more than 50 young people attended these five sessions and were able to get career advice and engage in discussions about politics and local decision making.

I look forward to supporting the foundation and its programme of events next year.
