Douglas Alexander helps me raise £2,500 for BOS
The Shadow Foreign Secretary helped me raise the tidy sum of £2,500 for Bermondsey and Old Southwark Labour party at the annual fundraiser I organised on 28 November.
Nearly 100 guest, including councillors, GLA members, party members and friends, gathered at a restaurant in Shad Thames to enjoy a fantastic evening of good company, food and fun.
Douglas gave a terrific keynote speech. He highlighted the importance of winning the London Mayoral election and its huge impact on Labour winning nationally and making Ed Miliband the next prime minister.
I promised Douglas that Bermondsey and Old Southwark CLP will work hard to shorten his title to just ‘Foreign Secretary’ at the next general election.
George Foulkes, our CLP chair, praised the unity among CLP members and generously recognised my fundraising efforts for the CLP and for the borough.
Samir Sharma conducted an energetic auction and George Foulkes outbid everyone to buy the beautifully framed “1998 National Minimum Wage Act signed by Gordon Brown”
I’d like to thank Sheila Taylor, Mary Foulkes and Mary Doherty for their help on the night.
